Chelsea Pickett is a passionate community leader, mother, photographer, and advocate dedicated to empowering single mothers to rise above life’s challenges and build brighter futures.
Chelsea has always had a creative and entrepreneurial spirit. She is the proud owner of Chelsea Pickett Photography, founded in 2016, where she’s captured countless special moments for families and individuals. In 2020, she took a major step forward by opening her very own photography studio, making it her full-time career for the entire year. Her love for storytelling through images later inspired her to branch into writing. On June 29, 2024, Chelsea launched her very first children’s book, “Zori Finds Her Way,” which sold out completely on its release day a testament to her dedication, creativity, and connection with her community, and now a full-time student at UMA with a career in Social Work in the future.
Her journey as a community leader began with a simple yet powerful idea that no mother should have to navigate hardship alone.
On July 26, 2018, Chelsea launched Moms with a Plan, a small nonprofit born from her living room in Louisville, Kentucky. Her mission was to create a safe, supportive space where single mothers could come together, share experiences, and help one another thrive.
In those early days, Chelsea hosted small gatherings at her home, offering meals, goodie bags, and encouragement to moms and their children. Word quickly spread about her compassion and commitment, and what started as a few local meetings soon blossomed into a growing community of empowered women.
By March 2019, Chelsea’s dedication led her to partner with Moms Closet, now known as SparcHope, where she volunteered during her work breaks while employed full-time at Evergreen Christian Preschool all without access to a vehicle. Her unwavering drive came purely from her love for helping mothers succeed.
That same year, she joined 40 Days for Life, participating in peaceful protests outside an abortion clinic to inspire women to see the blessing of motherhood.
Her advocacy, alongside her young son, caught the
attention of local media, landing her in the newspaper and on the evening news.
Chelsea continued to grow her organization’s impact by recruiting mentors, creating branded apparel, and expanding the Moms With a Plan Facebook community from just 50 followers to over 1,500 in one year. During the pandemic in 2020, she launched Women’s & Mothers’ Wellness Thursdays, posting weekly messages of encouragement and mental wellness for moms navigating uncertain times.
In 2021, Chelsea stepped into a new leadership role as the facilitator of the Single Moms Group at Southeast Christian Church, one of Louisville’s largest congregations. There, she met Tena McNair, founder of New Life Directions Ministries, who offered her a position as Resource Manager a role that quickly grew into Case Manager due to Chelsea’s natural leadership and heart for service.
By 2023, Chelsea joined SparcHope as a Case Manager, gaining valuable experience in nonprofit management and deepening her understanding of the needs facing single mothers in the community.
Now in 2025, Chelsea has rebranded her organization as Mom Support a new chapter built on the same heart, faith, and vision that began it all. Her goal remains unwavering: to empower mothers to believe in themselves, access resources, and transform their lives through connection and confidence.
“I want every mom to know she’s not alone,” Chelsea says. “With faith, love, and the right support, every mother can rise not just for her children, but for herself.”
